We heard there had been a recent solar flare and the northern lights were going to be out so we went on a search to find them. It was kind of exciting: checking weather reports, watching for clear skys and texting friends to see where the best show was. We felt like real aurora trackers. We found a good spot for viewing and this is what we saw...
We could not see the red light in the sky but the camera was able to pick it up. That was cool.
We had a little light pollution from the Fairbanks city lights but we could still get a pretty good view.

When we got home at 1:30 am we could see some lights from our house. That is our roof in the lower right corner. It was very cool.
