Anchorage Trip

We needed a little break so we decided to drive the 7 hours to Anchorage for a few days. It was a long drive for Maddison but she did pretty good. We kept her supplied with plenty of toys to play with.

Maddison taking advantage of a little R&R.

For the first few nights we stayed outside of Anchorage at a ski resort. It was great. Steve could just walk out the hotel, catch the tram (building out the window in this photo) to the top of the mountain and ski down. So easy.

More relaxing.

We took the tram up the mountain with Steve on one of his ski runs.

You can see the ocean in the background (grey stuff in front of the mountains).

We watched the start of the Iditarod race in downtown Anchorage. Maddison loved seeing all the "puppies".

We took Maddison to the zoo. She was less excited about the animals that I thought she would be. She was more interested in playing with the rocks and pushing her stroller around. I think she liked the seals and bears though, because she talked about them after we left.

We also went swimming, ate out at some good restaurants, visited some of Steve's coworkers, went to Target and left Maddison with some friends while we went to the Banff Mountain Film festival.

We took a "wiggle" break on our drive home and had a great view of Denali - the tallest mountain in North America.

Testing out the new sled.

  1. I really wish we were there. Mom and I would love to take care of Maddison while you and Steve skied down together.

  2. OK, OK, Mom hit me up side of the head and said you are not skiing because you are expecting. It takes us old ones a little longer.
    Sorry. . .
