Mission Accomplished!
Steve and I decided one of our New Year's resolutions would be to pawn something. That's right. I said pawn, as in take something we don't want anymore into a seedy, sketchy pawn shop and see what happens. We are proud to say we can check this one off our list.
Steve's sister was getting rid of an old stereo system and donated it to our cause. We took it to one of the many pawn shops by our house and carried it inside. They guy helping us was very nice. He looked up the stereo on his computer and quoted us a price so there was no bartering, no sweet talking him into giving us more money. I was kind-of hoping for some good bartering. Next I was photographed and fingerprinted. No kidding! And then we were handed some cash. It actually only took a few minutes and was much less complicated than I imagined.
Oh, yeah. I guess you are all wondering how much we made. We walked away with $26.00. We took our earnings and hit the town as seasoned pawn-ers!

St. Patty's Day Surprise.
Last night Steve made me close my eyes and get into the car as he drove me to an undisclosed parking lot. He got out and left me alone for a few minutes returning with a treat I had to try with my eyes still closed. Turns out it was the Shamrock milkshake from McDonald's.
It is a bright green minty shake that they only sell around St. Patrick's Day. Steve told me that they don't advertise this shake anywhere so you have to be "in the know" to order one. When I asked him how he knew about it he said, "Someone who is in the know told me about being in the know." So there you have it. Now you too are "in the know" and can go get yourself a Shamrock milkshake to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Sip and enjoy.

Soup of the day.
One of our favorite places to eat out is Zupas. They serve the most amazing Wisconsin Cauliflower soup that Steve always gets. I would get it too except I cannot not get the Tomato and Basil with Orzo Pasta soup. It is always a big debate. Do I get the amazing tomato soup or the amazing cauliflower soup?
The tomato always wins.
Always.
But I still really like the cauliflower soup so I decided to try to make it at home. I was a little nervous to make it since if there is going to be a cooking disaster, it's gonna happen while making a soup out of cauliflower. It turned out pretty good. I think next time I make it I will change up the recipe a bit but overall it was a sucess. To see the recipe visit the Pfost pfood blog at: http://pfostpfood.blogspot.com/

Sweetaphobia.
Today we celebrated my co-workers birthday with some strawberry short cake. Our volunteer declined to have any because she can't/won't eat sweets in the middle of the day. I didn't tell her about the hand full of chocolate chips I ate for breakfast.

Snow Love.
I've been feeling a little gloomy as cold February has been dragging on so it was perfect timing when Steve's aunt invited us to spend the weekend at their cabin near Mt. Pleasant. It was the perfect opportunity for me to rekindle my love for snow and cold weather since they have both been on my naughty list for a few weeks. It is amazing how it doesn't even feel cold when you are zooming along on a snow machine or hiking in snowshoes...somehow it feels refreshing and pleasant.

The List.
Disclaimer: In honor of Valentine's day I thought I would post a mushy, lovey-dovey blog. Read on only if you dare.

Fourteen reasons why I love my husband Steve.
(It started off as ten things but my list kept growing.)
(It started off as ten things but my list kept growing.)
1. He lets me watch "The Bachelor" TV show on Monday nights even though it is on at the same time as his favorite sitcom.
2. He leaves me little notes sometimes, usually with a little drawing depicting how much he loves me.
3. He splits the last little bit of juice in the pitcher exactly in half for each of us, even though he is bigger and probably needs more liquids.
4. He gives me back scratches whenever I ask...and I ask a lot.
5. He makes me laugh when I least expect it.
6. He likes me to sit in the middle of the bench seat in his truck.
7. He works very hard at his job to support our little family.
8. He cooks the red meat. Ewwwe!
9. He has tall jeans. And not just the kind you wear... but also the kind that will make our kids non-munchkin like.
10. When I suggested that we get a goat one day he said, "lets do it!"
11. He loves me just the way I am.
12. He is so kind to those around him, including me.
13. He looks great in a t-shirt and jeans.
14. Because he loves me a lot and tells me all the time!
Happy Valentine's Day My Love!

Soaking in some sunny rays.
Steve and I were in Scottsdale, AZ this past weekend for Steve's yearly corporate meeting. It was beautiful weather...good enough to take a dip in the pool. Steve went to meetings, gave an excellent speech/presentation and sat in a dark conference room while I sat at the pool, read, and enjoyed the "spouse's event."
The company took all the spouses to a stuffed animal factory where we got to build an animal and then it was donated to a local charity. I made a mountain goat.
We also enjoyed some crazy evening parties including a Vegas night and Mardi Gras night.

I think this is a good look for us.

New Year Resolutions
On 25 August 1875 Capt. Matthew Webb was the first man to swim the English Chanel. It took him 22 hours.Well, it looks like it is that time of year again when we look back at our New Year resolutions to see if we actually did any of them. Looks like I was at about 50% for 2009 gaols.
Last year I wanted to start a blog, sew something, learn to make bread...check, check, check. But I didn't make it to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro nor did I send more thank you notes.
Steve met his savings goal and rekindled an old hobby (bought a dune buggy) but did not look into swimming the English Chanel.
We created our goals for 2010 and again aspired for greatness. Some of my 2010 goals are (in no particular order):
1. Go to the temple once a month.
2. Buy a curling iron. (I have never owned one in my 31 years of existence. This is big!)
3. Go on an adventure with Steve once a month.
4. Organize my recipes. (currently they are loose pieces of paper scattered all over the laundry room.)
5. Write in my journal monthly.
6. Visit my Grandma in California.
7. Sew another something.
8. Be better prepared to teach our Sunday School class each week. (no more waiting until 10pm Saturday night)
A few of Steve's are:
1. Fix the dune buggy.
2. Go canyoneering.
3. Visit the Pfost Grandparents in Glens Ferry ID.
4. Read a few Novels. (not sure which ones yet)
5. Have fun at work.
6. Go on a week long vacation.
I'll let you know next year how we did.

Winter Wonderland!
Idaho got a ton of snow while we were there celebrating the New Year with Steve's family so we decided to buy some garbage can lids, dust off the water tube and head outside.

CHRISTMAS
Steve and I spent Christmas in Salem with Dad, Jalene and April. Most of the rest of the family stopped by here and there to share in the fun.
Christmas morning we found Santa collapsed in front of the fire place. Must have been a long night.
When we weren't busy eating or napping, we put together a puzzle, watched movies, fed the ducks and complained that we had eaten too much before snacking on more treats!

I once learned that if plants are not properly cared for they can get "leggy." I think I have created the ultimate example.

This is what my plant should look like. This is what it looked like when I first got it.

and now....
I'd say that is pretty "leggy." I still love the little guy and hope it survives. (hum the Charlie Brown Christmas song here)

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
(I think you're gonna like this!)
